Staying safe on the Exchange
The Neighbor Exchange is not open to everyone yet. It is being tried with a small group. These are its rules, what we do, and what you can do to stay safe.

The ground rules
No money changes hands.
The Exchange is for trading help. Selling is not allowed. Nobody here should ask you to pay, wire money or use a cash app. If someone does, stop and report them.

Meet in public places.
A library, a coffee shop, a church parking lot, a MARTA station. For handoffs, daytime is better. Bring a friend if anything feels off, and trust that feeling.
Reúnanse en lugares públicos, de día si es posible. Si algo no se siente bien, confía en tu instinto.
Your address is not shown.
Posts show your neighborhood. They do not show your address or your phone number. Share contact details in messages only when you’re ready, and only what’s needed.
Keep the conversation here at first.
Messages on ATL Care can be reported and reviewed. Texts can’t. Be careful with anyone who pushes hard to move to texting right away.
What we do
- Everyone who posts or messages has verified a phone number.
- Every post and every first message is screened before anyone else sees it. If the screen is not sure, a person looks at it before it goes up.
- You can report any post or message. The other person does not see who reported it, and a person reviews each report.
- When you block someone, neither of you can message the other.
A note on rides and errands
Take extra care with rides. Agree on the pickup spot in messages, tell someone you trust about your plan, and ask the other person to confirm the details before you go. Drivers and riders each decide for themselves whether to go. ATL Care puts neighbors in touch and does not check each trip. The details are in our terms of service.
If something goes wrong
If you are in danger, call 911 first. For a problem on the Exchange, like a post that looks like a scam or a message that crossed a line, use the report button on that post or message. A person will review it. People who break the rules more than once, or do something serious, can be removed from the Exchange.
