Children's Education ProgramsProgram

Family Haven teaches children from elementary through high school about spotting and preventing abuse. Families in shelter and transitional housing get parenting groups and trauma-focused group and one-on-one support for children, plus referrals and follow-up.

Date StrongProgram

Date Strong is a healthy-relationships program that Family Haven brings to Forsyth County high schools. It teaches young people what healthy and unhealthy dating look like and what to do if they are afraid.

Emergency Shelter ProgramProgram

A safe, secret shelter for women and their children who need to get away from domestic violence. People can stay up to 90 days at no charge while they work with a caseworker on next steps.

Financial and Social Services SupportProgram

Family Haven lists financial counseling and social service support among the help available to women moving forward from the shelter.

Legal Advocacy and TPO SupportService

A legal advocate helps people understand Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs) and what it takes to keep one in place. The page describes this help for people who enter the emergency shelter program.

Transitional HousingProgram

Apartment-style housing for families who finish the 90-day shelter program and qualify. Family Haven has only 3 apartments, so a unit may not be open when the shelter stay ends. A stay can last up to one year, and residents pay a small rent.

Volunteer with Family HavenProgram

Community members can volunteer with Family Haven, for example at fundraisers, on the crisis line, with children's activities, or teaching life skills at the shelter. Volunteers fill out an application, have an interview and go to regular trainings.
