Adult Guardianship ProgramProgram

When a probate court finds an adult cannot make safe choices and no one else can be guardian, the state may be named guardian. Case managers make decisions for the person and arrange the care they need.

Adult Protective ServicesService

APS looks into reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and money exploitation of older adults and adults with disabilities who live in the community. Anyone can make a report by phone or online.

Caregiver programsProgram

Programs for people who care for a loved one, including adult day services, respite care, education and support groups, and kinship care. Ask your local Area Agency on Aging what is offered where you live.

Community Care Services Program (Medicaid-funded home care)Program

This program provides Medicaid-paid home and community services for people who qualify for nursing home care, so they can stay in their homes.

Dementia resources and referralsService

Counselors at your local Area Agency on Aging can refer you to dementia services or connect you with the dementia care specialist for that agency. The state also lists publications and other organizations.

Elderly Legal Assistance ProgramService

ELAP gives free civil legal help to Georgians age 60 and older through local law firms. It covers things like public benefits, Social Security problems, housing, nursing home discharge, scams, abuse, and planning documents.

Georgia SHIP Medicare AssistanceService

Georgia SHIP gives free, unbiased Medicare counseling. Counselors help you compare plans, enroll, read Medicare notices and bills, file claims and appeals, and apply for programs that lower costs.

Georgia's Aging and Disability Resource ConnectionService

ADRC is a network of partner groups, not one office. It helps older adults, people with disabilities, families and caregivers learn about long-term support, get counseling and referrals, and plan ahead. It covers all 159 Georgia counties.
