Experienced foster and adoptive parents give support and advice to people who are fostering or want to. They can help you through the approval process and mentor you one on one.

Child care help (Childcare and Parent Services)Service

This program helps Georgia families pay for child care and school-age care.

Community Services Block Grant (local Community Action Agencies)Program

Local community action agencies give services to people with low income. These cover jobs, education, housing, food, emergency help, and health. Energy and water help is free.

Educational Programming, Assessment and Consultation (EPAC)Program

EPAC gives school support to children and youth who are in DFCS custody. It includes tutoring, school evaluations, and review of special education plans.

Emergency Food Assistance and commodity food programsProgram

Georgia runs two federal food programs that give nutritious foods to people with low income. These are the Commodity Supplemental Food Program and the Emergency Food Assistance Program.

Foster care and becoming a foster caregiverProgram

DFCS places children who cannot stay safely at home with relatives or foster caregivers. It trains and supports people who want to foster. Adults who qualify can sign up to become caregivers.
