Become a foster caregiverProgram

DFCS recruits, trains, and supports people who want to foster or care for a relative's child. Caregiver navigators, who are experienced foster and adoptive parents, can answer questions during weekday business hours.

Child care help (Child Care and Parent Services)Service

This program helps Georgia families pay for early childhood and school-age child care.

Community Services Block Grant (local community action agencies)Program

This program pays local community action agencies to help people with low income, including homeless and older people. Help covers things like jobs, school, housing, food, and emergency needs. Energy and water help is free.

Educational support for youth in foster care (EPAC)Program

EPAC gives school help to children and youth ages 5 to 17 who are in DFCS custody. Services include school advocacy, educational evaluations, review of IEPs, and tutoring.

Energy assistanceService

DFCS lists energy help for low-income families. The home page has an Apply for Energy Assistance link.

Food commodity programs (CSFP and TEFAP)Program

Georgia runs two federal food programs that give nutritious food to low-income people. They are the Commodity Supplemental Food Program and The Emergency Food Assistance Program. Foods can include milk, juice, beans, poultry, and canned meat, fruit, and vegetables.

Georgia Gateway online benefits accountService

Georgia Gateway is the online account where you can apply for benefits, check them, renew them, report changes, see notices, and upload papers. It is shared by DFCS and other Georgia agencies.
