If Georgia is your home of record, the department may have a copy of your DD Form 214 on file. Contact your closest field office to ask for a search.

Education and training programsProgram

The department is the state agency that approves and checks schools and job training programs so veterans can use VA education benefits there. Call the staff to ask about approved colleges, trade schools, flight schools, apprenticeships and on-the-job training.

Unite Georgia is an online resource directory and care network. Veterans can use it to find help near home with benefits, jobs, school, rides, food, and mental health care.

Memorial CemeteriesService

The state has two veterans memorial cemeteries, in Glennville and Milledgeville. There is no cost for the gravesite, vault, marker, chapel or burial. Veterans and some family members can be buried there.

State War Veterans HomesService

The state runs two skilled nursing homes for eligible war veterans, one in Augusta and one in Milledgeville. A small daily fee is charged. VA pays it in full for some veterans.
