Becoming a foster caregiverProgram

Georgia is looking for people to foster children, especially teens, sibling groups and children with complex needs. You can work with DFCS or with a private child placing agency. There are steps to finish before you are approved.

Caregiver NavigatorsService

Experienced foster and adoptive parents give support and advice to people who want to foster or already do. They help you through the approval process and offer one-on-one mentoring.

Childcare and Parent ServicesProgram

This program helps Georgia families pay for quality early childhood and school-age child care.

Community Services Block Grant (energy and water help, local services)Program

Local community action agencies across Georgia help people with low income. Help can include energy and water bills, jobs, education, housing, food and emergency needs. Energy and water help costs nothing.

Educational Programming, Assessment and Consultation (EPAC)Program

EPAC helps children and teens in DFCS custody do well in school and stay in the same school when possible. It offers school advocacy, educational evaluations, tutoring and review of school plans.

Energy AssistanceProgram

Food commodity programs (CSFP and TEFAP)Program

Georgia runs two federal food programs that give nutritious food to low-income people. Foods can include milk, juice, beans, poultry and canned meats, fruits and vegetables.

Georgia CommunicareService

Georgia Communicare lets people connected to a foster care case, like parents, CASA volunteers and foster parents, get case information from DHS case managers. Training videos are on the page.
