Building Operator Certification Scholarships

GEFA pays for scholarships so building maintenance operators can take the Building Operator Certification training. It is for people who work in K-12 schools and higher education.

Grid Resilience Grant Program

This grant program paid for projects that make the electric grid stronger, such as hardening power lines. It was for power companies and similar groups. The application period is closed.

Hurricane Helene Resilience Funding

GEFA has federal money to help communities hurt by Hurricane Helene make drinking water and wastewater systems stronger. Communities must show Helene damage and propose an eligible project.

Lead Service Line Replacement Program

This program gives financing to local communities to find and replace lead water service lines. A replacement must cover the whole line unless part was already replaced.

Natural Gas Infrastructure Financing Program

This program gives low-interest loans for natural gas system repairs and growth. It is for eligible borrowers, not for individual households.

Water Infrastructure Financing

GEFA gives loans for water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater, reservoir, water supply and solid waste projects. Water and sewer systems apply online. Applications are taken all year.

Water Infrastructure Planning Program

This grant pays for planning that protects water, improves water quality, and keeps water affordable, especially in small and disadvantaged communities. The grant is up to $150,000 per project. The application window ran until August 31, 2026.
