Volunteers welcome a Leader Dog breeding dog into their home for the length of its breeding career. This helps shape the next generation of Leader Dogs.

Client Supporter NetworkProgram

Online group meetings for family, friends and supporters of people who are blind or low vision. Attendees learn about blindness and how to give good support.

Graduate Peer Support SessionsService

Leader Dog graduates can join monthly online group calls to share and connect with others who are blind or have low vision. They can also ask for one-to-one meetings.

Guide Dog ProgramProgram

People who are blind or have low vision are matched with a trained guide dog and learn how to work with it. Training can be three weeks on campus in Michigan, at least 10 days at home, or a mix of both.

Orientation & MobilityProgram

A one-week program where a teen learns white cane skills and one adult supporter learns how to help at home. It is held in summer on the Michigan campus.

Puppy Raising Volunteer ProgramProgram

Volunteer puppy raisers help a Future Leader Dog puppy learn basic skills before it starts formal guide dog training.

Teen Summer CampProgram

A free week-long camp on the Michigan campus for 16- and 17-year-olds who are blind or low vision. Campers make friends, try activities like tandem biking and rock wall climbing, and build leadership skills. Staff supervise campers around the clock.

Online learning about blindness, low vision and Leader Dog services. It is meant for people thinking about applying, current clients, graduates, family and friends, and professionals.
