Nicholas House

Adult Education and TrainingProgram

Evening classes for families already in a Nicholas House program. There are 24 topics, such as interviewing, resumes, budgeting, debt, computers and parenting. Each family makes a service plan and meets with a case manager.

Boulevard Emergency ShelterProgram

A shelter in Grant Park-area Atlanta where homeless families with children can sleep safely and get food. Staff work with parents to raise income and find permanent housing. Families get in only by referral after a Coordinated Entry assessment.

Home AgainService

Rapid rehousing and homelessness prevention for families who earn enough to pay rent but need a start. It can help with application fees, deposits, moving costs, the first month's rent and back rent to stop an eviction.

Homeless to Homes (H2H)Service

Apartment-based rapid rehousing for homeless families who have some income but not enough for full rent. The family signs the lease and pays 30 percent of income at first, and Nicholas House pays the rest. Over a year the family works with a case manager to pay more and take over full rent.

New HorizonsService

Permanent supportive housing for families who have been homeless a long time, have no income, and have a disability. Families move into apartments leased by Nicholas House, and case managers give added support.

Rental and Utility AssistanceService

Nicholas House gives a limited amount of rental help to families each month. It can help with back rent, utilities, move-in costs and fees, and with landlord disputes, for families at risk of losing their home. You request help by email with details about your household.

Volunteer with Nic's CrewProgram

People and groups can volunteer at the Boulevard Shelter or from home. Options include service projects, serving dinner, kids' activities, parties and internships. Email the Volunteer Manager to start.
