Crimes Against Elder Persons and Adults with Disabilities UnitProgram

This unit prosecutes crimes against seniors and adults with physical or mental disabilities and provides training about scams and abuse prevention.

DeKalb At-Risk Adult Multidisciplinary TeamProgram

A team of partner agencies that works together on abuse cases involving older adults, adults with disabilities, and people living in long-term care. They look into cases, prosecute, and review them together. The team started in January 2020.

DeKalb County Cold Case Task ForceProgram

The task force works with partner agencies to identify unidentified remains and gather information about missing persons and cold cases.

Diversion and Community Alternatives Programs UnitProgram

This unit offers other paths besides regular prosecution and treatment programs. These include Pretrial Diversion, STRIDE, and a restorative justice pilot. It also works with the DeKalb accountability courts: Drug Court, Felony Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court.

Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault UnitProgram

This unit handles adult sexual assault cases and high-lethality domestic violence cases, including related homicides.

Elder Abuse Reporting and Resource GuideService

The office has a guide that teaches about elder abuse, common scams, warning signs, and ways to protect yourself and loved ones. The elder abuse page also has a link for reporting abuse.

Firearm Violence Prevention UnitProgram

This unit prosecutes firearm-related impact offenders and also works on gun safety education, community engagement, and support for people affected by gun violence.

Pretrial DiversionProgram

Some first-time offenders charged with certain non-violent crimes can finish set conditions instead of going through the usual court process. Conditions may include classes, counseling, restitution and community service. People who finish get their charges dismissed and their record restricted.
