Bay Area Outdoor Leadership ProgramProgram

Summer camp, weekend retreats and day-long outdoor trips in Northern California for youth with an incarcerated parent. Youth join multiple activities each year and stay for the long term. Activities include rafting, surfing and ropes courses.

National Support CirclesProgram

Free online groups on Zoom for youth who have a parent in prison or jail. Trained leaders and young adult mentors who have lived this too run the groups. Sessions last 5-6 weeks and youth can come back each year.

Pathways for Native YouthProgram

Project Avary is growing its work with Native youth affected by a parent's incarceration. It is building ties with tribal people, educators and community members and adapting its programs. People can contact the Outreach Specialist to ask questions or work together.

Support When a Parent Is Detained or DeportedProgram

Project Avary welcomes youth whose parent was detained or deported. They get the same long-term support as other youth, through a summer fire circle or an online support group. Staff speak Spanish and families' privacy is protected.

Training and Support for Schools and CommunitiesService

Project Avary gives talks, trainings and presentations to schools, agencies, conferences and community groups. The goal is to help adults understand and support children with an incarcerated parent. The team shares lived experience and practical advice.

Volunteer with Project AvaryProgram

People can volunteer alone, with friends and family, or with a work team. Ideas include helping at family events, running a gift or supply drive, hosting a breakfast at camp drop-off, volunteering at camp, or becoming a mentor. Opportunities are in the Bay Area.

Whole Family SupportProgram

Caregivers and families get connection and support through family gatherings, family camp, and caregiver support groups.
