May qualify if physically injured, witnessed a violent crime, had serious mental or emotional trauma, helped a victim, paid crime-related bills, or depended on someone killed or harmed by a violent crime. Crime must generally be reported to authorities within 72 hours unless good cause is shown.
How to apply
Register online at victimscompportal.cjcc.ga.gov or download the application. Submit a complete application packet with required signatures and a police or incident report; mailed applications go to Georgia Crime Victims Compensation, 104 Marietta Street NW, Suite 440, Atlanta, GA 30303.
