Instead of just answering 911 calls, these officers build trust with neighbors and run programs to prevent crime, help homeless residents, support youth, and act as friendly contacts for the LGBTQ and Hispanic communities. You can reach them to ask about safety programs, request a crime-prevention talk, or connect with a community liaison officer.

The Suthers Center for Christian Outreach is a faith-based outreach of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church that runs a drive-through food pantry every Saturday morning. They give free groceries to families and individuals in need, and can also help with a small utility bill payment and refer people who are homeless to shelters. In 2024 they served 4,552 neighbors and gave out over 190 tons of food.

Intown Cares (formerly Intown Collaborative Ministries) works to prevent and end homelessness and hunger in intown Atlanta. They run a free, no-ID food pantry that gives out groceries twice a week, and they help people who are living on the streets get into permanent housing using a Housing First approach. They do not run shelters themselves but connect neighbors to housing, documents, and other support.

It provides supportive housing with single-room units, case management, hot meals through a soup kitchen, and job and life-skills support. It is NOT a drug or alcohol recovery center, despite the name on file.

The SPOT is a free drop-in center run by CHRIS 180 for young people ages 16-26, including those who are homeless or struggling. In a safe, judgment-free space you can get counseling and mental health support, help with school (GED, tutoring, college), job and employment help, free meals, a food pantry and clothing closet, and connections to housing and other resources.
