How free technology access works in Atlanta
The library is the front door. Every Fulton and DeKalb branch has free computers, wifi, and printing; many lend wifi hotspots and laptops to take home, free, on a library card — which is itself free and takes ten minutes. Branches also host free digital skills classes, from "first time with a mouse" to resumes and email.
For home internet, ask providers about their low-income plans — the big carriers all keep one (typically $10–30/month), with eligibility tied to SNAP, Medicaid, or school lunch programs. Nonprofits refurbish and sell cheap computers — and some give them free with completion of a digital-skills course, which is the better deal than it sounds: you leave with a machine and the confidence to use it.
What to expect: no eligibility maze here. The only real questions are "which branch is closest" and "when's the next class" — and the library answers both by phone.
Gwinnett County Public Library is the free public library system for Gwinnett County, with 15 branches across the area. Besides books, e-books, and free WiFi, they offer adult education, English classes, tutoring and learning labs, computer help, passport services, free park and museum passes, and programs for kids, teens, and adults. Anyone in the community can get a library card and use these services for free.

The Adams Park Branch is a public library in southwest Atlanta, part of the Fulton County Library System. It offers free books, computers and Wi-Fi, study and meeting rooms, ESL (English) classes, and children's and teen programs. Anyone can use the library for free, and it also serves as an early voting site.

FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children) gives free or very low-cost wheelchairs, hospital beds, walkers, and other home medical equipment to people with disabilities and their families. They also refurbish and repair equipment, build wheelchair ramps, modify vehicles, and run a thrift store. Most equipment is provided at little or no cost based on need.

Integrity Transformations CDC is a nonprofit on Atlanta's Westside that helps people get jobs and rebuild their lives, with special focus on people coming home from prison or jail. They offer free job-readiness classes, resume and interview help, computer skills, case management, and connections to free vocational training and full-time work. They also work on affordable housing and financial literacy in the community.
