MMI gives the counseling course you must finish before filing for personal bankruptcy, and the education course you must finish before debts can be discharged. You get a certificate when you finish. Both are done by phone.

Free money counseling for people hurt by a natural disaster. A counselor helps you make a recovery plan, apply for FEMA aid, and file insurance claims, and checks in with you for up to a year. It does not give out money.

This program gives free foreclosure counseling for homeowners who are having trouble managing their mortgage. It is for adults 18 and older, including individuals and families who own a home or are at risk of losing housing.

Free Confidential Debt and Budget ConsultationService

A free, private talk with a certified counselor about your debt, bills, and budget. You leave with an action plan and ideas for getting out of debt.

Homebuyer CounselingService

Counseling to help you get ready to buy a home, one-on-one or in a class led by an instructor. You get an action plan and a certificate, which many mortgage programs require. Ask your lender which kind you need before you start.

Online Financial CounselingService

You enter your money details online, or let MMI pull them from your credit report without hurting your credit. You get an estimated plan, then counselors by email, chat, and phone help you fine-tune it.

Online Homebuyer Education CoursesProgram

Self-paced online courses about buying a home, which you can start any time. Some loan programs require one. The courses are on other websites, and each has its own price.
